Sommeren (“the summer”) is almost history for 2017, as we move to Fall (Høst). We Samholders had a great Sommeren Piknik on August 13 at the Jeskeys, with our special “host”: Betty Jeskey, age 101. Thank you, Romaine Jeskey and the Jeskey family, for making this a great picnic!
We enjoyed fellowship, singing Norwegian songs, and playing Kubb. According to legend, this was originally a Viking game, where the blocks were “skulls” and the sticks were “femurs” (thigh bones). I’m guessing the Vikings had enough of those laying around to make a game out of them. Another name associated with Kubb is “Viking Chess”.
See you i Høsten!
